Aztec Tacos is hands down one of the best spots in Ottawa for authentic Mexican food! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was something special. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, and the aroma of fresh, homemade tortillas fills the air. The food? Absolutely incredible. I tried a variety of tacos, including the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and Carnitas, and every single bite was bursting with flavor. The meats were tender and well-seasoned, and the toppings were fresh and balanced perfectly. Their homemade salsas add just the right amount of kick, and you can tell they put real care into crafting every dish. Beyond the tacos, I also had their birria, and it was out of this world. The slow-cooked meat was juicy and rich, and the consomme for dipping was packed with deep, savory flavors. Pair it with their fresh-made horchata, and you have an unbeatable meal. Service was excellent—the staff was warm, welcoming, and happy to make recommendations. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it really shows in the quality of the food and the overall experience. If you’re looking for real Mexican street food in Ottawa, Aztec Tacos is a must-visit. The flavors, freshness, and authenticity make this place a hidden gem. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

After so many years, I finally found the best Mexican food in Ottawa! I tried the Quesabirria and tacos al pastor, and they were AMAZING! The food was incredibly flavorful, the service was excellent, and though it’s a small, simple spot, the food is a solid 10/10.

Top notch, highly recommend! Everything was very fresh, cooked to perfection, and the flavour profiles were exceptional. It was also appreciated that they keep the onion, cilantro, etc., on the side so you can control how much you add. The best quesabirria with consomme we’ve ever had! We can’t wait to come back and try more.

The special brisket tacos were awesome! Can’t wait to try some other items on the menu, the food is fresh and the ladies are hermosa I loved all the toppings!!

My fiancee and I had an amazing experience at Aztec Tacos! We tried the QuesaBirrias and the Tuesday taco special (which came with carnitas, chorizo, and chicken tacos), and every single bite was bursting with flavour. The QuesaBirrias were cheesy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned — hands down some of the best we’ve ever had. The carnitas and chorizo tacos had that perfect balance of spice and tenderness, while the chicken taco was super satisfying. We washed it all down with Jarritos in mango and pineapple – refreshing and the perfect pairing to our meal. The ambiance was vibrant and inviting, and it truly felt like we were getting a real taste of Mexico. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine!

Today, after seeing an add for Aztec tacos. I decided to fit in a visit while on my errands. I found the atmosphere very friendly and it was a busy place! The colourful walls and art was also a great touch. The staff were very friendly and polite but busy. I was greeted in Spanish but understood that it was busy and if I was to eat in or to go. I found a seat and a menu was placed in front of me lighting fast. I ordered the Birria, it was super good! Withe the soup and Mexican cola. It has real sugar and not the fake stuff here in Canada. It was extremely delicious. I will have to go back and try something new. If you in Ottawa, you’ve got’a eat here!!!

I recently tried Aztec Tacos, and I have to say, their al pastor and veggie tacos are amazing! The al pastor is flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and tender, while the veggie tacos are packed with grilled veggies and delicious textures. Both options really stand out with authentic flavors. The quality and taste are top-notch and authentic(Reminded my trip to Mexico). It's definitely one of the best taco spots I’ve visited. Highly recommended for taco lovers!!
